We’ve just posted our first teaching positions here for the new Lakeland Middle Preparatory School (Grades 5-8) that will open in August of 2017. We will post additional specialized certified positions in the upcoming weeks. Please see below for a few notes on our anticipated hiring process.
– While we are posting applications now and Principal Adler will begin scheduling interviews in the coming weeks, we will not make any offers to teachers until all surplussed teachers from Arlington Community Schools have been offered an opportunity to interview for positions for which they are qualified. That means we will likely not make any offers to teachers until at least the last two weeks in February.
– Teachers who have attained at least three consecutive years of TCRS service in any Shelby County school system (Shelby County Schools, Arlington Community Schools, Bartlett City Schools, Collierville Schools, Germantown Municipal School District, or Millington Municipal School District) as of July 1, 2016 and who are hired by Lakeland School System directly from any Shelby County school system prior to October 15th, 2018 will have prior service credit from those systems transferred to Lakeland School System for the purposes of retirement, post-retirement health insurance vesting, and salary schedules. In addition, teachers hired in the aforementioned category will be placed on the “Legacy” LSS salary schedule that recognizes steps and lanes for advanced degrees.
– Most classified positions (paraprofessionals, custodians, nutrition technicians, clerical support) likely will not be posted until closer to the end of the 2016-17 school year with some exceptions.
– Candidates interested in positions at LMPS, even those positions that have not yet posted, are encouraged to go ahead and create accounts and applications in SearchSoft so they can be prepared to apply for specific positions as they are posted.
